other program. Navigation, charts, stability, logbooks, publications and
emergency procedures. Once installed, it works with no internet and no login.

Not sure which one? If your computer has an Apple logo on it, choose Mac.
Otherwise choose Windows. To check a Mac, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac.
If the chip line reads Intel, the desktop app will not run on it, so
run CHIEFMATE in your browser

How to install, step by step
Takes about two minutes. No computer experience needed.
On a Mac
Click the Download for Mac button above and wait for the
download to finish (about 100 MB).
Click the downloaded file (CHIEFMATE.dmg). It is in your
Downloads folder, or click the arrow at the top-right of your
browser to find it.
A window opens showing the CHIEFMATE icon. Drag the CHIEFMATE icon
onto the Applications folder in that same window.
Open your Applications folder and double-click
CHIEFMATE.
If your Mac asks "CHIEFMATE is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you
sure you want to open it?" Click Open. This is a routine question macOS
asks about every downloaded app. The message also tells you Apple has already
checked CHIEFMATE for malicious software.
On a Windows PC
Click the Download for Windows button above and wait for the
download to finish (about 80 MB).
Click the downloaded file (CHIEFMATE-Setup.exe). It is in your
Downloads folder, or click it at the top-right of your browser.
The installer runs on its own and puts CHIEFMATE in your Start menu and on your
desktop. No administrator password is needed.
The installer is signed by STEM Maritime Systems LLC, so Windows
opens it normally. If Windows shows a blue confirmation screen, click
"More info" and then "Run anyway."
On an iPad or Android tablet
iPad owners get the iOS app from the App Store above. On Android, CHIEFMATE
installs straight from your browser as a full-screen app, no app store needed.
Both use your regular subscription and need an internet connection (the desktop
app above is the fully offline option).
iPad or iPhone: tap the App Store badge above,
install, and sign in.
Android tablet: open the site in Chrome and sign in, then
tap the button below, or choose Install app from the Chrome
menu.
The first time you open it
Have an internet connection for the first launch. CHIEFMATE downloads its
chart and publication library (this can take a few minutes, like loading
charts aboard before getting underway).
After that, everything works completely offline: at anchor,
offshore, or with the WiFi off.
Your data is safe across updatesYour logbook, charts, vessel profile and settings are stored separately from the
app and are kept when you update or reinstall. When a new version is available, the
app offers it to you. Nothing installs without your say-so.
